CLUB SKIRTS’ PUBLICIST SPILLS THE BEANS ABOUT THE DINAH :)

Because we want you to get to know us better, we’re turning this blog over to our staff members so they can share with you their own stories about what The Dinah represents for them and how it has changed their lives.

Today, our publicist, MONA ELYAFI, breaks the news about her own Dinah experience!

“They say “things happen for a reason” and I never really fully grasped the meaning of it until the Dinah came into my life.
The first time I ever attended the Dinah Shore Weekend in Palm Springs was in 1999.  Back then I was on disability suffering from severe back pain and just a few months shy from undergoing a major back surgery. It was also the early phase of my coming out and evidently I was still very confused about this whole lesbian thing.
To be honest, I was more afraid of what my family, my friends and society would say about it.   I come from a rather complex cultural/religious background with a Catholic mother and a Muslim dad, so needless to say, I was mentally struggling with the idea, and still trying to figure out what was the right thing to do morally speaking.
So how did I find myself at The Dinah?
Well, simply because a few of my friends got tired of me complaining about my back pain all the time and thought that a little escapade in the sunny oasis bathing in a sea of women would be a good distraction.
Now I’ll confess that instead of checking out all these gorgeous women, I actually spent the entire time staring at everybody lower back and wondering what it was like to be able to walk, dance and move pain free.
But although I might have missed out on some potentially successful cruising action, The Dinah gave me something much more valuable. It showed me that I was not the only one – that there was a huge community of women out there who were exactly like me and that made me feel safe. It was such a freeing experience.
Ironically for someone who was mortified to go in the first place and very much on the fence about spending 5 days with a bunch of lesbians, I ended up crying like a baby when we left.  I just didn’t want to go back to my reality.
It was the same nostalgic sadness as when I used to come back from summer camp.
Cut to 2006. By then I was fully healed and had successfully resumed my PR career.
So there I were attending The Dinah in Palm Springs for the second time, although this time I was not a customer but a publicist attending an “industry” function with a client! I’ll skip all the professional details of my attendance and jump right into the personal juicy stuff: I fell in love!
Yep, as cheesy as it sounds, my second Dinah is where I met my (now) ex-girlfriend and discovered the meaning of being so insanely, truly, madly, deeply, and obsessively in love.  Of course two years later she dumped my booty and brutally broke my inconsolable heart into pieces.
As much as going through this breakup was/is the worse pain I have ever known (believe me the back surgery was nothing in comparison), again the Dinah provided for another life-changing experience for me: it not only confirmed what and who I now know I truly am, but it also made it psychologically and morally OK for me to be gay because I finally realized that I could only have that kind of connection with a woman.
Suffice to say that getting over the breakup was excruciatingly painful. I spent the bulk of 2008 trying to convince myself that this was not the end of my world and buried myself into my work. I just needed to distract my mind from the usual mind-torturing questions “Where is she?”, “Who is she with?”, “What is she doing?”, “has she already forgotten about me?”, etc.
Clearly the universe heard my cry for help (or maybe it felt sorry for me) because out of the blue I got a phone call from Mariah Hanson (founder and producer of Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend in Palm Springs), wanting to meet with me to discuss my potentially handling the PR campaign for The Dinah 2009.
Long story short, ten years after my first Dinah ever, I was back at The Dinah but this time I was attending as not only a new member of the Dinah Team but also as the new publicist.  That was HUGE for me – especially considering that was the year Mariah had booked Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.
But in spite of the colossal amount of work that was involved in handling an event of that magnitude, and in spite of the prestige of working with international superstars like Gaga and Perry, what really and profoundly affected me was how the entire team (from the top down) so graciously welcomed me into the Dinah family.

For the first time I felt like I finally belonged somewhere and was part of something bigger than me; something that was genuinely making a difference not just for me but also for so many others.   Such a priceless feeling!
The Dinah holds a very special place in my heart. Being from France where to date my parents still live, what Club Skirts The Dinah has accomplished for me is become my substitute family.”

BACKSTAGE AT THE DINAH: A PEAK “BEHIND THE SCENES” WITH OUR PRODUCTION MANAGER TO DISCOVER THE SECRETS BEHIND THE MAGIC!

Before you head out to Palm Springs, CA this April to attend The Dinah for the first, the second or the nth time, we invite you to get to know the faces behind Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend!
Get up-close and personal with us and see how The Dinah unites us all in that same common bond.
Our staff is sharing their own stories, talking about their professional craft and most importantly revealing their own special Dinah experience.
Today our Production Manager, CHRIS LACASSE, takes you behind the scenes on an exclusive backstage tour of the world’s biggest lesbian event to discover the secrets behind the magic!

“This will be my 7th year at the Dinah… Just writing that seems crazy!

As a little background, I started as a stage manager back in 2007, a little Canadian girl, with only 3 years experience as a recording engineer at that time. Stepping out of my comfort zone of the studio into Live production was scary but extremely exciting. But i had no idea what I was stepping into….

I remember getting off the plane in Palm Springs on a beautiful March day, playing it over and over in my head how it will look and feel to be surrounded by thousands of women in one location… It’s the kind of thing I dreamed of as a kid. I wish I was kidding. I thought of all the gay prides I went to, the lesbian parties… I just knew this wouldn’t be the same.

Even though I had never met Mariah Hanson before that day, and only knew The Dinah from what I saw on “The L Word” and that I HAD to go to this one day, I knew the moment I stepped into the hotel that this festival would be different. Bigger. Even if I combined all the lesbian parties I ever went to in one room, I knew it would never be as big as this. I got nervous real quick. Forget the fact that I would be surrounded in a sea of women, I had to work through it too.

I arrived on the Wednesday, already the Doral hotel was taken over with thousands of women from all over the world. Kid in a candy shop is an understatement. I met women from France, Germany, Australia and even Nova Scotia! ;) The thing I remember quite clearly about Clubskirts’ The Dinah is the vibe. You feel it as soon as you step foot in it. There’s no judging, no borders, everyone is there to have a good time and let loose! …And boy do they!

As much as my first year was the most memorable one, I can’t describe much. I remember A LOT of coffee, dropping my clipboard and papers in front of artists, mentally exhausting myself by trying to focus when bikinis walked by, trying to remember basic math to calculate capacity, time delays and stage dimensions (stay in school) and then, more coffee. I had so much Starbucks I thought they would pop up and offer me a sponsorship. At the end of it all, the whole team was wiped but high on the excitement of what we help create.

Chris Lacasse, Mariah Hanson, Leilani Reynolds,
Mona Elyafi & Briana Stockton
There were learning curves, especially on my end, but Mariah made it easy when she set the bar of expectations; how this festival holds its own vision, and how we just have to flow with it and present it in its true form.
With something this big, it really does have its own identity, and you do your best to represent it.

I could go on forever about the ties I have made there, on how we’ve all developed an enormous family bond -and the occasional crush- with everyone on our team (consequentially, I’m marrying my lead wrangler this year… boom baby!) and how even when the festival ends, we all stay very much into each other’s lives, celebrating milestones and of course, going to each other’s weddings (we are getting old and most of us have found our wives at the Dinah… go figure ;) .

I could probably also write a novel about the next 5 years, about the success and the challenges that come from producing out of only one main Hotel in 2007 to expanding our parties to bigger locations like the Palm Springs Convention Center, adding ‘sister’ hotels to accommodate our overflowing pool parties and other numerous locations across the city like Zeldas nightclub who open and close our festival. Not to mention our stellar headliners who join us year after year to celebrate with us and who show so much love to our community!
One of the props about being backstage is I get to have numerous conversations with our artists, where they always seem to mention how amazing it is to see so many women in one room and how crazy fun it looks out there! One conversation specifically with Natasha Bedingfield and her team was about the importance of this festival, how it must be so liberating for the women who live in areas where there is no community for them and how this event gives them an outlet to finally “get their booty on!”  with no restrictions or fear.
I also remember I had to get extra security for Ms. Bedingfield and her crew as she made her way to the dance floor to join the ladies ;) – The amazing thing that unfortunately most of our guests don’t get to see, is that all our past headliners, from Lady Gaga to Katy Perry, Chaka Khan to Salt n’ Pepa, ChelyWright to Nina Sky and too many others to name, all feel the same way. They see the crowd partying it up, dancing and loving every min of it and they too want to join in! And it’s like that every year. I often think my problem isn’t getting the artists on stage; it’s trying to keep them off the dance floor!

Club Skirts The Dinah is truly becoming its own festival, where there’s nothing like it in the world, and it’s definitely humbling to not only be part of this festival but to be part of something so big that impacts women’s lives from all over the world for the better, with that “awe-ing” feeling that you are not alone.

And I think I can speak for myself and the entire Dinah crew when we say we’re all proud to be affiliated, even in the slightest, in making a difference in someone’s life through this festival… even if it just means helping you step out of your shell and put a little nitro in your cruise control… ( you’re welcome ;)

OUR GENERAL MANAGER, BRIANA STOCKTON, HAS DONE IT ALL, SEEN IT ALL AND TODAY … TELLS IT ALL!

Our general Manager BRIANA STOCKTON has more than a decade of Dinah experience and memories!
She’s done it all, seen it all and today … she tells it all:

“I am coming up on my 11th year working with Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend in Palm Springs, and every year is just as memorable as the first one!
My Dinah experiences are innumerable to say the least!
Overall what keeps touching me the most – and my favorite thing to share about this incredible weekend – are the stories I hear year after year from the many lesbians in attendance.
Women from all around the world travel to Palm Springs for the same reason: FREEDOM and of course GIRLS!
The Dinah is not just a family among the staff; it is also, and most importantly, a place where everyone is alike and equal; where we all feel related in a special way – WE LIKE GIRLS – and its ok!

It’s always an unforgettable, gratifying noble few days of being openly GAY. I think it’s easy for those of us who have the freedom to walk in public hand in hand with our girlfriend to forget that in some other parts of the country and the world, public display of affection is still a big NO NO.

To see all these women being free to be themselves without fearing what others will say or think is what I love the most about the Dinah.

To me what makes the Dinah special is that the event is able to provide for each and every woman HERstory – from wedding bells, breakups to fellowships and pen pals, The Dinah delivers it all!
It truly puts a human face on our Lesbian community.

I feel immensely proud tobe part of this ever growing family that puts together such a magical event for our community to embrace, enjoy, and experience. Nothing compares to feeling completely loved and accepted.

Every Dinah, I look forward to seeing YOU: our Dinah family members – old and new!

                      Briana Stockton and Mariah Hanson

ONE MORE LESBIAN (OML) AND
TELLO FILMS ANNOUNCE MERGER

San Francisco – One More Lesbian (OML), the largest online distributor of LGBT film/TV content, announced today the successful merger with tello Films, the Chicago-based leading provider of original online lesbian video content.

The OML and tello Films merger is a major coup, marking the long-awaited consolidation of the two leading web-based lesbian entertainment moguls.

While tello Films will retain its brand and identity, its entire catalog will now migrate and solely exist under the OML marquee. tello will become the subscription service of OML with all of its content now accessible via OML’s homepage. Viewers will be able to enjoy the content of the site’s new premium section for the minimal fee of $3.99 a month. In addition, new tello Films projects will now also be co-executive produced by OML.

“We’re the largest distributor of lesbian video content online and tello is the leading provider of lesbian video content online. The merger with tello Films feels like a natural and organic move for us”, says Shirin Papillon, founder and CEO of OML, “together we become the largest provider and distributor of lesbian video content online. I’m extremely excited about what it will ultimately mean for lesbian visibility worldwide.”

Dubbed the Netflix, Hulu, iTunes and Amazon of the lesbian world, OML has secured its cyberspace presence as not only a trusted brand, but also as the ultimate seminal Mecca of online lesbian movie streaming bringing new films and other specialty entertainment to LGBT audiences around the world via digital platforms.

Similarly, tello Films has been prolifically producing and distributing innovative, high-quality lesbian-focused web-series with such notable projects as Cowgirl Up, McManusland, I Hate Tommy Finch and The Throwaways.

Both companies have been successfully remaining in the vanguard of developing new strategies for alternative distribution and have now respectively become marquee destinations.

“Shirin and I started our websites with one focus and goal in mind- to bring more content to the lesbian community.  We choose different focuses- her’s was a distribution platform to support artists and ours was to create original content,” says Christen Mell, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of tello, “this is why our merger is so great because together we are better than separate.  We bring the best of our sites together and we are the future of digital content for a niche community.”
While mainstream television is not ready yet to support the amount of lesbian-focused programming that the lesbian community needs – because, demographically speaking, lesbian representation is not substantial enough to sway the ratings – there is nevertheless enough of a demand to support hubs of content on the web.
And as the web still remains the primary source for quality LGBT content, the merger between OML and tello Films will be bringing high-quality projects to larger audiences than ever before – establishing themselves as the ultimate one-stop emporium for lesbian entertainment.

More about OneMoreLesbian.com (OML):
Founded in 2008 by Shirin Papillon, OML is the World’s leading aggregator of lesbian video content online enjoying 1.5 million page views monthly in over 190 countries.
With the recent addition of their Video On Demand platform dubbed OML+, which offers feature films and short, One More Lesbian has become a one-stop media shopping experience.
Determined to remove the stigma of lesbian media being synonymous with pornography, OML seeks out and aggregates positive video content from other video sites around the world.  Having been viewed in over 190 countries, One More Lesbian is reaching people and places that typically would have no access to positive lesbian content. It is also working with major broadcasters such as Showtime and film distributors including Wolfe Video and First Run Features. It has also famously partnered with non-profit organizations in the likes of GLAAD and HRC.
Plans for OML’s future include the addition of eBooks and music, among others. Papillon will be announcing more exciting new offers for 2013 in the few upcoming months.

Equality and Love Triumph: Celebrating Historic Gay Marriage Victories!

$

June 26, 2913 has certainly become a historic day for Civil Rights with the Supreme Court landmark rulings on same-sex marriage striking down part of DOMA and dismissing Prop 8 in California.

Together these two big court decisions not only mark two significantly major victories for our LGBT community and gay supporters, but also represent two giant steps forward for our gay-rights movement.

Equality triumphed and love prevailed!

As president Obama said it perfectly in a tweet following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn DOMA – finding the controversial federal law that discriminated against gay couples in the US to be unconstitutional -  “LOVE IS LOVE“.

Our community and its gay right supporters celebrated Wednesday’s historic wins by organizing rallies across the nation.

In Los Angeles, hundreds of LGBT Angelenos took to the streets of West Hollywood to cheer the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss the Prop 8 Appeal, and to celebrate California becoming the 13th state where same-sex marriage is legal.

Club Skirts joined the many men and women who assembled on Santa Monica and San Vicente Blvd to rejoice in this historic extension of our civil liberties!

To quote  San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee: “Gosh, it feels good to have love triumph over ignorance, equality triumph over discrimination.”

Here are the photos of the West Hollywood rally.
… Indeed, it was a GREAT day!

DIANA KING – The First Jamaican Artist To Ever Come Out & Dinah 2013 Headliner – Puts A Ring On It!

If you attended Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend 2013 in Palm Springs, CA, you surely remember the electrifying performance by the iconic Diana King at our Sunday Pool Party.
The Reggae/Dancehall legend, who is responsible for chart topping hits like “Shy Guy” and “Say a Little Prayer”, gave such a phenomenal performance and an inspiring speech about her coming out a year ago and breaking a major taboo in Jamaican culture, she instantly became our new hero!

What made King’s speech touching and heartfelt were the personal stories she shared with the crowd about Dinah and DOMA.
She first recounted how ever since watching an episode of “The L Word” she used to dream about performing at Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend – the largest lesbian event in the world – and couldn’t believe her dream had finally come true. Her Dinah performance marked a milestone in the singer’s professional music career being the first time EVER she played at a Lesbian event.
Moving on to Marriage Equality, she proceeded to explain how her 7-year relationship with her Jamaican girlfriend Simone had over the years been extremely challenging as a direct result of DOMA.
Because Gay marriages until June 26 of this year, were not officially recognized at the federal level, bi-national same –sex couples were not legally allowed to sponsor their “non-American” partners for a green-card, and consequently denied them the right to stay in the United States. For almost a decade Diana and Simone had to deal with the gruesome constraints of a long-distance relationship inflicted by strict immigration laws and, yes, DOMA.

But they proved that “Love does conquer all!”

Diana King then invited the crowd to “say a little prayer” for change, encouraging all of us to continue the fight for Equality and Love for all.
Who would have thought that 3 months later, Diana King’s wishes would come true!
We decided to catch up with the singer to get her reaction on the U.S. Supreme Court June 26 decisions to strike down DOMA and dismiss Prop 8 in California – marking two historic wins for same sex couples.
And, of course, we also wanted to check if she’ll soon be joining the 24,700 bi-national, same-sex couples in the United States whose marriage are now recognized by the federal government.
Here’s our exclusive interview:
Where were you on June 26, 2013, when you heard the news about the U.S. Supreme Court striking down DOMA and dismissing Prop 8?
I actually tried to stay all night up to hear the ruling but the ‘zeeez” got the best of me at about 7am. I had asked for what I wanted to happen and released it to the Universe days before so I just went to sleep with “Your Will Be Done” as I drifted off.
What was the first thought that came to your mind?
Honestly, it was “S***T I got powers LOL. Then “THE UNIVERSE HEARD US!!!” then “Uh oh” … I think I’m still in disbelief.
You’ve been with your girlfriend Simone for 7 years. With her having to live in Jamaica and you in Florida due to U.S. immigration law issues, what does the end of DOMA mean for you?
It has been very inconvenient and frustrating for us but I know it could be worse. At least she’s able to visit me every couple months (every weekend would raise suspicion as to why she is here so often and may result it denial to enter the U.S. We never knew when she’d run into a jerk at customs) but it is still heart wrenching every time we have to say goodbye. We have been engaged for most of the 7 years and I vowed I’d never get married until we are equal. I was married before to my son’s dad so I know first hand what we were being deprived of … NOW I can honor my word.
One of your biggest accomplishments came last year, when you bravely decided to publicly come out, breaking a major taboo in Jamaican culture; The June 26 Supreme Court rulings will surely inspire many of the remaining 37 States to move toward marriage equality. How do you think other countries – especially Jamaica – will react toward the US Supreme Courts historic move toward acceptance, equality and love for all?
It was one of the most terrifying things I had ever done but it was time. I feel honored and proud to be the 1st Jamaican artist to come out. My country still has a far way to go. Everyday holds a casualty from gaybashing. It’s sad, the pace is slow but more and more people are rising up.
I suspect there will be some fight from the remaining States in America but I truly hope Florida, where I live and all others will fall in line and move forward as well. It’s only fair.
Another big personal accomplishment was your Dinah 2013 performance. You were quoted saying that it has always been a dream of yours to perform at an event like Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend considered to be the largest lesbian event in the world, can you explain why and how it has changed your life?
Dinah was my 1st gay event. Since then I’ve done a hand full of Pride events. It’s been awesome.  I remember watching excerpts on the original L WORD and wondering if I’d ever experience it. I imagined just being there but it was even better when I was asked to perform. Events like these cannot take place in Jamaica, it’s dangerous. I got so many emails from all over the Caribbean of their wishes of being there or just being at a gathering like this before they die. It felt great to report back, to give some hope. My life is just being lived more authentically since I came out publicly and my visibility started at Dinah.
At The Dinah, you delivered an inspiring, emotionally charged address on civil rights calling for marriage equality; did you ever expect things would actually change so drastically two months later?
I didn’t expect it so soon but I definitely dreamt and hoped for it. I had written a note in March “EVEN IF I MARRIED my JAMAICAN GIRLFRIEND of 7 years” on my Facebook page explaining to my friends what it meant since many of them were ignorant about DOMA. I had to explain that even if we got married it pretty much meant nothing but a ritual.
You seem to have the Midas touch for making your dreams come true – performing at The Dinah was one of them, and having DOMA banned another one – what’s third on your bucket list?
I don’t have a bucket list, I just go with my flow. Whatever feels right … but I do believe when you free yourself especially from fear you open the doors to limitless possibilities, to all you are born to do and who you are truly meant to be. Everything is possible now.
You immediately reacted to these two historic wins with a tweet containing the hashtag #TimeToPutARingOnIt, are wedding bells in effect now?
To be honest, I am not sentimental when it comes to marriage. But everyone deserves the option to do so if they please. I was raised by two women who were not married, who died a year apart and left me all alone at 17 years old. They gave me so much love I’m still running on it … But in our case, and the time we are living in, it’s the only way to be together and delight in the benefits that all my straight married friends enjoy. We also deserve it. For us, It’s the only way to have a life together in the same place. Me moving back to Jamaica would be many steps “backward.”
Life can be a very lonely road. It is a blessing when you find someone who you love and loves you back and is willing to take the journey with you to the end.
Speaking about wedding bells, what protocol and etiquette do you think are going to follow when it comes to the LGBT business of tying the knot? Do you get engage first? Who proposes to whom? Do you ask her parents first? Do you change your last name? Do you throw a bachelorette party at The Dinah?
Nowadays anything goes as far a traditions or conventions. People are gonna be very creative, i think. These are the days of all things unorthodox.
What is the most creative way of asking “Will you marry me”, that you’ve heard of?
Sooo, I secretly flew to Jamaica. When I knocked on the door, she was so shocked and in disbelief, that she took off running away from me. I had told her repeatedly that I didn’t want a committed relationship and she had been trying to call me the whole day without success, so you can imagine that she was really pissed by this time. When I finally found her in the bedroom covering her face crying on the bed I picked her up and hugged her. I went down on my knees and began reading a letter I had written but I got all choked up so I handed it to her and asked her to read it. By the end of the verse I was asking her to marry me – to “Jam by my side for the whole ride” … We were both crying by then.
Then, I stood up held her and kissed her and the ring was transferred from my mouth to hers.
What’s the best wedding song?
Wow, There are so many … I’m really loving ‘A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri for something more current by but if you wanna go classic, ‘Could I have This Dance” by Anne Murray “Here And Now” by Luther Vandrooss “WOMAN” by John Lennon “Because You Love Me” Celine Dion or “Endless Love” by Diana Ross and Lionel Ritchie.
What’s next for Diana King now? Are you working on any new projects?
I never say what’s up till it’s done but you can expect more music more performances. Sometimes I actually don’t know the next step. I just remain open to all I can dream happening and the voice that speaks within and the feeling that says “Yes, this is right for me, do it!” … It’s always been like that and I like it like that. The surprise, the suspense, the surrender to the unknown … I am a private person so I never imagined I would ever COME OUT! … see how much I know.

For those of you who attended Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend 2013 in Palm Springs and took the time to wander around our vendors’ area, you might remember seeing the very unique booth of TEAZLED – a different kind of greeting card company.

They’ve just launched a fantastic project that offers national support and fundraising assistance to LGBT centers, and we’re spreading the word about it.

Teazled, LLC, based in Las Vegas, NV, is a manufacturer and publisher of high-quality, traditional greeting cards for the LGBT community, their families and straight allies.

Teazled cards are currently distributed to major retail outlets throughout the USA, Bermuda and Canada.

The LGBT community has supported Teazled’s vision since the company was founded in 2011 and the owners of Teazled wish to ‘pay it forward’ to the constituents in their rapidly expanding community.

Through the Teazled Center Project, in collaboration with CenterLink, their high-quality greeting cards will be offered to LGBT Centers throughout the country at the company’s manufacturing cost (zero-profit), allowing LGBT Centers to resell the cards at a retail price of their choosing and to use the funds in whatever manner best suits the Center’s strategic goals. For the past 23 years, Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend has been offering gay women from all over the world the opportunity to escape for five days from the rest of their 360-day life of make believe, in the closet, and provides them the freedom to be who they are.

Yet none of this universal unity, love and solidarity would have been possible if it wasn’t as well for the host city of The Dinah Shore Weekend, namely the City of Palm Springs.

As one of the #1 LGBT travel destinations, the city, dubbed “the new Gay Mecca” boasts more gay and gay-friendly restaurants, nightclubs, hotels, retailers and other businesses than any other one gay destination in the world.  Nowhere else do lesbians get such a strong sense of community, solidarity and acceptance, feeling as much as home within the walls of the event as anywhere else on Palm Springs’ playground.

Now, more than a tradition The Dinah Shore Weekend has intrinsically been linked to the Sunny Oasis becoming a Palm Springs institution.

Celebrating this past April twenty-three years of blissful marriage, the City of Palm Springs and The Dinah officially renewed their wedding vows. The victorious pair  symbolically solidified the lifelong relationship and commitment that run deep between both brides via an exclusive VIP Rewards Program – reaffirming the sacred union as two of the most popular gay Meccas in the country.

As one of California’s top LGBT destinations, today Palm Springs is one step closer for same-sex couples looking to tie the knot.

And indeed, it’s a perfect match: Palm Springs and same-sex marriage!

Between August and November 2008, Palm Springs officials had performed over 600 civil same-sex ceremonies. Thirty-four same sex couples were also married in downtown during a special event called “Palm Springs Celebration of Marriage,” organized by the City of Palm Springs.
